Learning styles

     Learning is very important in my life, and specifically learning English is not easy for me, so I tried some different styles for this before. Everyone have their own favorite learning styles. I have three favorite learning styles.

     The three favorite learning styles are aural, visual and kinesthetic. These three learning styles is interesting and useful for me, and they help me a lots on my English learning way.First of all is aural, it is the best styles I can learn things. For this style, I will listening English songs, watching English TV shows and News. And I can also  remember the interesting examples, stories, jokes I hear before. Second is visual, it is a very good practice and it can improve my grammar also. I will do some writing and study grammar for it. The third one is kinesthetic, it is the one of the best style that can let me understand stuff. I can understand the knowledge form people’s action, graph, chat or a little funny show. This learning style can help me understand stuff easily and quickly. I like this learning style, specifically the talkers or performers are good.

     Learning English is difficult, but I found these three learning styles that I feel comfortable and useful. I will keep doing those things in my life and improve myself. I hope those three learning styles can help me become a “better me”. 232

Aural Study Strategies

If you have a strong preference for learning by Aural methods (A = hearing) you should use some or all of the following:

INTAKE

To take in the information:

• attend classes
• attend discussions and tutorials
• discuss topics with others
• discuss topics with your teachers
• explain new ideas to other people
• use a tape recorder
• remember the interesting examples, stories, jokes...
• describe the overheads, pictures and other visuals to somebody who was not there
• leave spaces in your notes for later recall and 'filling'

To make a learnable package:

Convert your "notes" into a learnable package by reducing them (3:1)

• Your notes may be poor because you prefer to listen. You will need to expand your notes by talking with others and collecting notes from the textbook.
• Put your summarised notes onto tapes and listen to them.
• Ask others to 'hear' your understanding of a topic.
• Read your summarised notes aloud.
• Explain your notes to another 'aural' person.

Studying English at PCC

     English is a very important language in our lifes. Learning English is as hard as other languages. We want to recommed PCC as a good place to study English.

     First of all, what we want to recommed about PCC is the professors. There are a lot of good and knowledgeable professors at PCC. They have been teaching many years, and they have much teaching experience. They often use some criginal ways to teach students. Whatever class you take, you will meet a very nice professor. Moreover, there is also a huge library at PCC. As we know, the libary has three floors. On the first floor, students can use computers to study or do their homework. On the second floor, students can borrow whatever books they like and talk with each other in English. It is also a good way to improve speaking skills. On the top floor, we can find a good place to read those books we borrow before silently.

Finally, Pcc has a very good learning environment. Students at PCC always use English to chat with each other. In this way, we can improve our listening and speaking skills. PCC also has a reading center and ESL center to help international students study English, such as by watching English movies and doing some English practice.

     To sum it up, English is a very hard language to study. If we study at PCC, we will improve our English quickly. We hope more students can improve English a lot at PCC.

How to Improve English



     Some parts of English are very important and I have done bad in the past. They are listening, reading and vocabulary. There are three things I want to improve about my English.

        In my English, I need to improve my vocabulary. The vocabulary is the set of words within a language that are familiar to the person. And if you know many vocabularies, you can improve others skill of English more easier. First of all, you can read some books that you are interest or newspaper. After that, you can make down every word that you don't knowand find out the meaning of them. Maybe you can just download a list of vocabulary from the internet. Second, you can study all the new vocabulary that you picked or download and try to memorize them when you have free time. I will spend the time study for this instead of the time that I used to play cellphone games or chatting. Third, I will try to use these new vocabulary in my life, such as chatting, classes and  homeworkes. As I know there are many kind of studting softwares or games that you can download for free online, and you can use it for study vocabulary. The is the most interesting way of studying English vocabulary I ever use, and they are different kind of "pratice". Sum it up, we can improve vocabulary in some different ways; however you need to work hard for this. If you keep doing these, your vocabulary will improve very fast.

The Reasons Of Studying English

     We have many reasons why we are studying English. Nowayads, many people such as students study English hard. Even though English is hard for us, we still have many reasons to learn it. First of all, there are so many international students studying the U.S, and one of the most important reasons for us is the pressure from our parents. For example, in China, children have to learn English when they are 7 years old. Many of us hate English, but Chinese education made us have to learn it. Moreover, learning English can also make our life better and colorful. In this society, English is more useful than other skills. Many famous companies need employees who have more knowledge or who are good at English. It also means if you know English or another skill, it'll be easy to find a nice job. Finally, we are living in America right now. Communication is also imoprnatnt for us. If we are good at English, we can travel everywhere that we want to go. On the one hand, we can make a lot of frients and even get married. On the other hand, we will know so much knowledge that we never heard about. To sum it up, English is one of the most important skills, and studying English can make our lives better.

Use English outside of class

        There are many situations where I use English outside of class. Using English outside of the class is very comon in nowsdays. That is very important that you speak English outside of class when you want to learn English well and quick. First of all, I usually use English when I take meal and shopping outside. I need to read the menu carefully to find the food I want to eat and order it later to the waiter by speaking English. And I need to ask the sales about the colthe's size or color when I am shopping. Moreover, I need to use English when I read those letters and leafelts. I need to sort those letters, because some of them are important and  some of them aren't. After that, I need to read some of the letters carefully, it may charge me soem extra money everytimes. Last of all, I use English when I have a project or homework to do. If I do those in group, I need to contact them by cellphone or Email, then make a apointment outside and meet. After that, we are going to talk about our project in English. To sum it up, we have many chances to use English outside of class, and we shouldn't waste these if you want to learn English well.

1)Why are you studying English?
I study English for my classes and my life. I came to U.S. for education. I need to improve my English if I want to get a good grade in classes. And I need to use English everyday in my life while I am living U.S.. I can also meet some new friends form other country and this is fun.

2)Do you use English very much when you are not in this class?
I do not use English very much when I am not in this class. Because it is hard to meet someone nice and you want to make friend with who is speak English. I use English everyday when I eat outside and study at school, but not too much. I am trying to spend some time to watch some America T.V. show after school, and I think this is the most comfortable for me.

3)How do you feel when you use English? Are you sometimes nervous, comfortable, or...?
I feel a little nervous when I use English specially with local people. I can't get in their talking very well when they are talking about their own life, and I think the reason of this is aobut the culture. We have different culture so we can't talk very easy when I want to use some experiences form my life. We watch different shows, listen different musics and eat different foods. The most time that I using English is when I sloving problem and doing project in class.
